Golden Rules
Our New Code of Behaviour
This year, we are delighted to begin rolling out our new Code of Behaviour, developed following extensive consultation with staff, parents/guardians and pupils. Our Golden Rules reflect the positive behaviour and attitudes we expect across Scoil Carmel JNS. They are designed to help our children understand what good behaviour looks like and to support a school environment where everyone feels safe, respected, included and valued.
Our Golden Rules in Action
Each week, we will focus on one Golden Rule across the school. Children will learn about the rule in their classrooms through age-appropriate discussions, stories, games, role-play and opportunities to practise the behaviour in everyday situations. The weekly rule will be displayed in classrooms, around the school and on the school noticeboard. Families will also be kept up to date through ClassDojo and our school newsletter, helping us to reinforce these important messages together at home and at school.
We will place a strong emphasis on positive reinforcement. Children will be encouraged, praised and recognised when they demonstrate our Golden Rules, helping to build positive habits and celebrate the behaviours we want to see throughout our school community.
By the October midterm, all six Golden Rules will have been introduced and explored. Each class will then make a shared commitment to our school expectations by signing their Class Golden Promise Tree — a symbol of our collective responsibility for creating a happy, respectful and positive school environment.
