Anti-Bullying Policy/ Code Of Behaviour Policy

We have updated our "Policies" page on the website with our revised "Anti-Bullying Policy" and our new "Managing Behaviours Of Concern Policy" . Please click on this link to read them: https://www.scoilcarmeljns.com/policies Scoil Carmel’s "Anti-Bullying Policy" was reviewed and ratified by the Board Oof Management in line with the Anti Bullying Guidelines, 2013 from the Department Of Education (DE). Last year, the DE published an action plan on bullying called "Cinealtas". All schools will review their Anti-Bullying procedures and policies as "Cinealtas" takes effect. Our "Behaviour of Concerns Policy" was also ratified at the Board of Management meeting in September. Many thanks to the Parent Focus Group (2 males & 2 females) who gave generously of their time to provide input and feedback in devising this policy. Both of these policies form part of the Code Of Behaviour Policy, which we are currently reviewing.

New School Sign

New School Sign

As part of the review of the Code of Behaviour policy, it was agreed to undertake the initiative of brightening up the physical school environment. Replacing the school sign at the front of the school was one part of the project. The new sign was installed today. It is absolutely fabulous. Ms Jones and Ms Fitzmaurice designed the new crest, incorporating the school motto: "Together We Grow and Learn" which was chosen last year as part of the review of the Code of Behaviour. The new crest is very vibrant and sharp. They also designed the layout for the new school sign incorporating both the school crest and motto. Ms Fitzmaurice created a digital version of the design for the school sign which was sent to the professionals for production. I think you will all agree that the new sign is fantastic. It helps brighten up the school grounds. A photograph was taken today of the Second Classes with the new school sign.

Our New Classroom - Room 28

Our New Classroom - Room 28

After a lot of building work, planning and preparation, we were delighted to open the doors to our new classroom this week. It is a state of the art modular build, that has been a labour of love from eveyone involved in Scoil Carmel. On Thursday morning, Ms. Fitzmaurice, Brian, Caoline and Sinead welcomed their students into Room 28. It was a pleasure to see the children skipping in the door and waving happily to their parents as they began their journey in their new classroom! Our new ASD classroom is a wonderful asset to our entire school community. We are so proud of what has been achieved by teamwork and perseverance over the past year to get this classroom up and running. Thank you to our principal Ms. Quinn who oversaw the building project from day one and supported and collaborated with Ms. Jones and Ms. Fitzmaurice over the summer to get this room ready for the new school year. We are grateful to the parents of the students in Room 28, teachers, SNAs, and entire school community for their patience, support and enthusiasm throughout the building process. It was worth the wait - here are a few photos to show you inside!

Welcome Back To School

Welcome Back To School

Hello everyone, Welcome back to school! It was wonderful to see all the boys and girls back to school this morning after the long summer break. We extend a very special welcome to our new pupils and we wish the boys and girls in our new class in Room 28 the very best of everything. It was a busy Summer in Scoil Carmel as our school was turned into a much brighter space. We are indebted to Brian our caretaker for painting our hall and long corridor. This was a very big project and required many layers of paint to cover the old colour. We wanted to show you a snapshot of our new furniture, mats, and display boards. The new tables for pupils will arrive in October and our new sign at the front of the school will be erected mid September. We have more exciting changes to make to the physical environment of the school this year so watch this space! We would like to thank COE Office Supplies for their incredible support and help in removing all of our old furniture and providing us with our new furniture. They are kindly sponsoring us some notice boards, new white boards and sensory equipment for Room 28. It was a huge team effort to get all of these changes over the line in a short space of time so a big thanks to the school community for their support. Best of luck to all of our pupils as they begin the new school year with us. The Scoil Carmel Team
