Spotlight On Past Pupil Niamh Coyne

With Active Week 2021 taking place this week, it is important that we shine a light on one of our inspiring past pupils and her sporting achievements. Niamh Coyne is an Elite Irish Swimmer and past pupil of Scoil Carmel. She came to Scoil Carmel from Junior Infants to 2nd Class and her mum Paula also worked in our school as an SNA. Niamh has gone onto to great success in her swimming career through hard work and dedication, with multiple trips to the swimming pool each day to improve her swimming talent and skills. We are proud to call her a past pupil of our school and we wish her the very best of luck as she competes to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics this summer!

  • Swimming Achievements

  • Niamh won the silver medal at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games in the 100m breaststroke final taking just 1 minute and 8 seconds to complete the race!

  • Niamh is also the Irish record holder for the 200m breaststroke short course!

  • She is also due to compete at the end of the month to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics later this summer!
